No to Bakun Project

It is ridiculous for the government to propose for the use of Bakun electricity to be sold to peninsular Malaysia...

the reasons are because:

1. TNB's current power grid is over supplied by about 30%.... SO it means that much amount of electricity is being wasted as it is not used. Its like a highway full of cars.... SO it will be wasted in heat loses and this is inefficient waste of energy...

2. TNB is reporting a drop in electricity need... plus if u check their balance sheet, they are actually overpaying the IPP for producing electricity that the people do not need... My projection is there will be 5-10 % drop in electricity needs in peninsular as more factories in penang, and KL are shutting down or not operating at its max. My estimation is TNB will be in the red soon...

3. Almost all IPP are using diesel powered plants that produces a lot of carbon... so we are polluting the environment by oversupplying the power grid. Plus Petronas is subsidising these people by selling them them cheaper subsidised fuel..... If u check the subsidy record, much is being used for electricity....

4. since there is no need of extra supply of electricity, why should peninsular be supplied another extra 10Mw of electricity from bakun? plus their gross projection of energy demand increase in peninsular malaysia adding by 15% per annum is really flawed when they sign contract with the IPP.... the actually data shows a bare 10% increase.... this year may be 8%... so there is a lot of waste of public fund...

5. Also I can't understand why the government sign contract with IPP when they have the resources to build and run one.... This include highways.....
there has been a lot loop sided contract with millions going into minster making the final say...

6. If you can see what happen in Bakun, the violation of human rights and sex abuse by the workers on the local native tribes, and how the gov just dump the people outside of their rightful ancestral land without proper compensation and the bad health care and all sort of human rights violations happening there, you should really think are you supporting such acts. Imagine ur kids being raped while going to school... and ur daughters washing their clothes in river was raped by those workers or those who are being forced out of their home have to become prostitude to those workers as they do not know how to find money to feed their family... these people are uneducated.... but it does not give us right to exploit them.... It really just strike to me when saying such as " Educated people commited the most horrendous crimes". Yeah its right... we are educated but we are maniplating these weaker tribes who cannot survive in such modern world...More over, you can look at the blue collar crimes committed by the so called highly educated students geniuses that are being churned out, compared to world top ten richest men who are all non university graduate who actually help people in need...ie. bill and melinda gates foundation, warren buffets pledge of USD 10 billion support for the foundation and others that help people....

7. plus do you know that the so called pipeline that they intend to lay is as long as thailand to singapore.... Its a long long distance... there will be a lot energy loss in the process of sending it to peninsular... there will be alot problem in financing the project as sime darby intend to be contractor but not owner of it.....

My suggestion is for Bakun's energy to be used in sarawak....
1. the energy suppplied can be used in creating a nearby industrial zone in tanjung manis or mukah... set up fractory and make electronic factories....automobile, micro processors, chips, software development, agrotechnology in food processing, and shipping industry....

2. portion of the money collected from bakun must be used to set up a fund to raise the standard of living of the native people... such as education, housing, job placement, health care and others....

Effects of economy on governments around the world

There is no doubt that people generally link the performance of the economy to the ruling government....

2nd depression: 2007-2010

although economist have not officially given a name to the current economy, It is official that we are in the 2nd depression since 1930s....

normally, bad economic situation is linked to war....
also there will be a change in governments....
2008 saw the angst of Americans against the Bush admin which led to this current crisis....

It is the simple math of people don't get food on their table, they'll mob or do certain actions that are deemed abnormal.... also it is time to check and see how far we have come and enable the necessary actions that are important for the future.....

in Australia was the first to show how the people were voting against the John Howard gov....
Its been a long ten years... and history shows that Australian vote for gov change for every decade....

Malaysian also voted against ruling BN which saw its worst ever election result since Racial incident on May 13, 1969..... Last time, the chinese in PAP of Singapore nearly gain control of Malaysia.... Fearing to lose it all BN kick Singapore out..... This time, unable to kick any state out, BN resorted to other tactics.....

South Korea is another classic example of how economy plays important role in election... the last president was linked to many issues especially trade realtions with US....

Germany also voted for change in the form of Chancellor Angela Merkel.... And she has been doing a good job

Chile voted for Michelle Bachelet

Argentina voted for the spouse of the ex president for Christina Fernandez Kirchner for her husbands record of lifting the Argentine eonomy....

India voted against BJP, thus giving the dynastic rule of Gandhis in the form of Congress....
New election is on going and this will allow us to see how much economy dominate the voting pattern...

Italy turned to Berlusconi once again, as he is more experience in economy...

other bench mark to look at is Britain.... It will be facing an election soon...
also Japan is also due for election soon this year or next year....

And we have seen governments gave coupons and others to people to sweeten their bitterness in losing jobs...

Solving the Perak government deadlock

Its been a few months since the deadlock of the Perak government.....
I can't be giving my personal view or it might be regarded as treason....

though I'm not from Perak, but I'm studying in Perak for the third year... SO I think I deserve a say in Perak issue....

The issue revolves around the failure of PR to make sure its Adun's are of high integrity....
Yes It is right that the people in Malaysia voted the opposition as a referendum against BN..... There is no doubt in that... Its like that all over the world..... Basically government must be change hand unless it is efficient one like singapore with zero corruption...
However as usual this is an Ideal case.....

Also, I was shock that Nizar did not actually ask the Sultan to dissolve the assembly few days earlier when there are news that their PKR members were MIA.....
It would be better if he did it earlier....

however, it is not time to put the blame on anyone right now that we are in between this deadlock....

so here is my suggestion.....

1. All PR assemblyman resign from their seat together asap....
2. Since they can't contest the seat they resign from, I suggest they swap seat to be contested....
3. Also just to show how PR is non racial bias, I strongly suggest PR to put chinese or Indian rep in Malay majority seats and vice versa....
4. Also this will be like a second chance for PR... so make full use of it... its time to put politics aside and focus on the people and economy....

there is a few logical explanation to my suggestion.....
1. No party wanted to concede to lose control of the government so the logical way is for re-election to take place....
2. also since the ruler refuse to call for re-election as it is deem costly, the action of resigning together will make half of the state assembly seat empty, so it is logical to call for it since half is already having it....
3. This will add pressure on the ruler to call for re-election and it will also humiliate the BN if they refuse to call for the re-election....
4. Hopefully the ruler will be impartial when he is to decide on this matter.....
5. Also PR reps must make public pledge to never switch side or face the public up-roar...
6. PR must have committee set up to look for candidate.... and all the hopeful applicant must have an interview session where they must tell the interviewer their weaknesses, any marital affair, conflict of interest, or anything that is deem morally wrong....
so that the person who is willing to come clean will be chosen....

hopefully there will be someone reading this and convey the message to PR.....
I still believe that PR is the rightful government of Perak......
I hope my language is not deem treasonous.... I'm just a student writing about his opinion....
what is democracy if the people cannot decide for themselves?

also the current political situation in Malaysia is affecting our lives...
there is just too much injustice, misuse of power and corruption....
Give us the hope like Obama gave the world....
A hope that we can believe in that there will be a shake up of the whole system....
that we are not a banana republic.... 50 years of racial politics....
enough is enough....
